all this talk of carbon hoods has me drooling at the thought of this hood for the 8. The mazdaspeed RX7 hood needs to built identically for the 8.

 

that hood looks just like the one I had on my civic

 

my hood is going to Gemini in a week or so...

we are exploring the possibility of doing a CF hood like that one but with the triangular rotor shape like the OEM hood..

and with the looks of it that MS RX-7 hood's left side vent is pretty close if not over the battery of the RX-8 if an identical hood was made.... sure there is a battery cover but i doubt i would want water pouring constantly onto the battery area

 

I think Vivid Racing already is putting this one into production for the 8......or that's what they were claiming in a thread I read a while ago, plans might have changed. Don't think it will have the rotor indentation, though.

seibon ks is the only thing close. did you look at the op date? this has to be one of the oldest i have seen revived.

 

Does seibon still exist? Lol. Have been "away" from the tuner scene for the last few years.

 

Gemini Composites, you mean? I've known about them for years, but they stopped updating their site so i wasn't sure if they went out of business or not, due to the shortage of raw carbon fiber material (this was about 2004 or so).

 

I think the Odula hood would be the closest to the old MS RX-7 hood:
