Brought it in for the 10,000 mile service and they backed it into something scratched up the back left side of it. What should I do? They say theyre fixing it, and that it'll look 100%. Meanwhile im stuck driving their loner car, a p.o.s. ford focus. Galpin Mazda are the culprits.

I'd ask them for other incentives like free maintenance for a certain time period. I highly doubt that you're gonna get cash out of it, but it's better than nothing, I suppose.

 

Yep right on, first off Id be demanding to be put into a better ride at a minimum they at least owe you that, also they should comp you for maintenance it is there fault and you did not ask or deserve to be inconvenciened, accidents happen its unfortunate but they come with a price. Like I said I would drop off the p.o.s focus at the dealers door and insist on a better ride.

 

Now I'm worried. I might be buying from Galpin in a few weeks. I hope they don't smack the car on its final journey across their lot, and then try to put me in a Focus! Anyway, I'd inspect their repair work with a microscope.

 

It's like any other accident. They are only responsible to repair the damage and make it like new. If you made enough of a stink about it, they mjay give you a better loaner or maybe some free maintanence, but it will be their call whether they want to do it or not. I wouldn't worry about them doing that to your car when taking it in. It was just one incident, and just an accident. You won't even notice anything happened when they are done, so just swallow it and move on. Sorry it happened though.

 

Heck...I took my '63 in for some minor repair work a while ago and the dealer banged the whole nose off of it. Had to have a new clip put on. Tell me that didn't affect my resale value (if I ever decided to sell it).

However, after they repaired it the headlights did work (electric motors rotated the headlights like new)...which was always problematic before.

 

Galpin is the biggest volume ford dealer in the country. They can afford to give you a few perks, don't be afraid to ask, what they did was wrong.

 

I would demand that you get to choose the shop that does the repairs. God only knows who the dealership will farm it out to.

u never know 'tho. i opted to use a body shop recommended by my insurance company, never again. i was driving home and the hood poped open! took it back to the body shop and they acted as if it was such a hassle. they also replaced a stock bumper with a non-chrome one. i also noticed a fluid resevior was damaged, when i returned to get an explanation, they were pissed because i returned 3 times. umm can u say stand by your work? luckily ur was only surface damage.

 

Ask to see the damage before they repair it. You dont't want them to get off the hook by claiming it was just a scratch, when it could be something worse.

 

I sympathize with you....took mine in for the same 10k routine and the mechanic poked a hole thru my leather seat...he had a pair of needle nose pliers in his pocket and it went right thru the seat....they are reparing it tomorrow...if it doesn't look perfect then i'm going to ask for a new seat...accidents happen

I would not raise a stink about it. Let them know you are not happy but also make sure that it is warranted the full warranty period from any discoloration. After you cover yourself I would be nice to them as they are your dealer and good relations is important on both sides.


same advice on the leather seat puncture. We had a seat repaired in our Miata but the "fix" is coming "unfixed" and the car is NOW out of warranty.
