Does anyone know a good custom shop that would be willing to work on something like 16psibrick's subwoofer? I have a feeling that rotarygod won't finish the 8" box anytime soon, so I have to look for some alternative solution.

So, any recommendation for a good place?

1. Avoid AMS Car Stereo in San Jose. They have several other shops including Z-Auto Sound. I did a $6k custom install on my BMW there and did not like the result.
2. I recommend Marin Auto & Security in San Rafael. Back under original ownership (Tom) and they are very honest about labor charges. They (almost) completely redid that $6k job and the end result is great. Of course it cost almost $10k but that's another story...
