Just want to know what people think of it?

 

The sunroof wind deflector? I thought it broke up the great lines of the 8 so I don't have one with mine. I would have removed it anyway, but the car I got didn't come with one. The wind noise is pretty low without it anyway.

 

I personaly would never have one on my car. I think they are tacky as hell.

 

I found that if you open the rear windows it lets the air out the back and not back at you resulting in a more comfortable ride without the deflector.
YMMV.

 

I agree it breaks up the smooth lines of the RX-8. I didn't check that box either....i love the sunroof on the 8. it doesn't make alot of noise and doesn't get all in your face like alot of sunroofs.

 

I bought the deflector, but my lame *** dealer here could not get it from Mazda for 3 weeks ! so i told them to cancel the order !
I am very happy i did.. I to love the lines without it. and unlike my rx7 the rx8 does not need the deflector at all. !!

Dont buy it .. its a waste and will screw up the look of your car !

 

They had a similar option available for the RX-7, and I have to BIG TIME warn against them. In time, it WILL wear the paint off where the rubber seal touches the roof. Same goes for most car bras - those things just eat up the paint. Won't happen immediately, but it will happen over time.

Also the sunroof wind deflectors are impossible to clean under - you have to remove them to properly clean under them. Also a chore.

I like it on my black 8 although I don't know how functionall it is as I haven't driven one without it. Not sure if I would want one if my car wasn't black. But one thing is for sure...there is no wind noise/gust inside at speeds up to 90 and possibly higher.

without the spoiler maybe they would look a little tacky but with it it seems to look better.

 

I took mine off, just to see if I liked the look better without it (I do).

I had forgetten all about it by the next morning, and found myself trying to figure out where all the extra air was coming from. Duh, lol...

It definately does it's job. Without it, the air now sorta spills down onto my head. No biggie, but it does definately make a difference.
