Does Royal Purple motor oil really add HP?

I was talking to a guy one day and he said Royal Purple increses HP. Royal Purple is pretty expensive and for the price it should do increase something. Anyone use Royal Purple motor oil out there?

Do you mean Royal Purple?

And Ive never seen any data that supports a HP increase from motor oil.

I don't believe (although I'm not positive) that Royal Purple ever said their oil increased horsepower until Racing Beat said that they consistently measured a marginal gain when using that oil. Remember, if anything Racing Beat has proven to be fairly conservative about their horsepower numbers. At any rate, its not an increase you will ever feel, so don't buy it because you're looking for more power. If you're going to use it, use it because its a kick-*** oil that performs well rotaries, is resistant to thermal breakdown and fuel dilution, etc.

I know a product that definitely does work and was even proven on the show Sports Car Revolution.

You can download the show at the following link.

It gained a few horsepower.

Pretty amazing. (Horsepower in a bottle) as they refer to it.

It is that I came out of a restraunt one day and there was a 7 pulled up to my 8 and the driver was checking out my car. After talking about 5 minutes he said that he use Royal Purple in is 7 and adds HP. I didn't belive him cause I didn't remeber the ad for Royal Purple to add HP either.
I am using Valvoline and it works good for me.

Somebody on the forum did dyno tests before and after and actually did report a slight increase from baseline... but yes, not enough to really notice.
