That is my 8 btw....and that is my friends Z. That was a day of washing and Zaino. Actually...funny thing is that it was because of his Z I got an 8. I was going to get a Z after he bought his and then I went shopping and the 8 was much better for me. The Z is a nice car though and fast. Faster than the 8 but harder on the driver. Both are nice cars IMO.

It doesn't matter if it's a bit faster. A Corvette is faster than both of them, but it's still a piece of garbage. Same thing for the Z. It's quick, but it's has absolutely no soul or carachter. Now, an old school 240 has soul and is a great car, but the new Z (IMHO) is pure junk. Horrible fit and finish, hideous interior, and an altima engine, these guys must be on crack. Maybe Nissan will wake up and improve the Z. A decent interior, with better materials, and a couple of turbos to crank out @400bhp. Make them a nice little Z06 killer.

For me, I wanted four seats, and a rotary. There is no choice.

Whoa, hold up! Corvette does not equal garbage. THe 8 is awsome but I know a large number of vette owners, both recent vettes and classic and I can tell you that are amazing machines. I would take a new Vette, particularly the new c6, over the rx8 anyday. Still love the 8 though and going to buy one soon, as the Vette is out of my price range.

 

Oh, and btw, 400hp won't be near a Z06 killer come 2005.

 

Traded a 2000 C5 6MT for an RX~8. So I have experience with both. The Corvette definitly beats the RX~8 hands down in performance. BUT.... the fit and finish of the RX are 10-fold what the Corvette is. The Corvette is typical GM parts bin car with a kick *** drivetrain. For god sakes my 96 Cavalier had the same radio the Corvette had, the top leaked and creaked, the interior pieces didnt fit together, the paint did not match on parts that were plastic -vs- parts that were fiberglass, it went through rear seals like they were going out of style, the gas gauge didn't function all the time. I am not saying it is not a beautiful car, but for 50+ grand they do need to do some work. Hopefully the C6 will take care of the C5s shortcomings

I got caught in the traffic jam from this accident on the way to work last week. A guy "lost control" of his SUV , jumped the curb and busted through the parking garage- at least 2 other cars had their front ends smashed in to the right in that photo- He must have been going pretty fast- Amazing

 

See the post above by RXcellr8. Anyone who thinks the Vette isn't garbage is offering a subjective opinion. Yes it is fast, and I would love to own a Z-06. But they're still garbage. Same thing with a Viper. Often people are so in love with the performance, they look past the huge short comings and call it a wonderful car. Fast? Yes. Wonderful.? Not a chance.
I also speak from experience. A long time friend of mine has a collection of Chevrolet muscle cars, and has about four Corvettes. One of my favorite driving cars in the world is his 68' convertible. 327, 4 speed, autocross suspension, and sidepipes add up to an incredible driving experience. But, it is one of the most cobbled together pieces of **** I have ever been in. And aside from the wonderful suspension, it's pretty much stock. Leave emotion out of it and you will see the light.

Not at all. I just get sick of people glorifying a car based on emotion. I have been in the Ferrari parts business for five years and I wouldn't take half of the cars they have made if they were free. The 308 is a fantastic example. It is an utter pile of ****, period. If you think otherwise you either don't know anything about them or you are basing your opinion on emotion. The RX-8 is not near perfect. It's not the best car out there by far, but I think that it's a well built car. Had someone been comparing an S2000, IS300, or even an M3, I would have kept my mouth shut.
