New Owner - P0335 Crank No Start
New Owner - P0335 Crank No Start
How's it going.
Just picked up a new to me 2004 MT RX8. The previous owner told me the engine was recently rebuilt and that it has a new clutch, flywheel, exhaust system, and new coil packs, plugs, and wires. Picked it up non-running knowing it was going to be a project. Waiting to get a rotary compression tester, but using a regular tester with the valve out bounces between 80-90 psi on both rotors.
Using a scanner I pulled the codes and it had a p0335 code stored. Read the Forums pulled the ESS sensor was clean, checked with a multi-meter and some metal and got alternating current. So following the manual step 4 is to check from the connector to body ground for continuity. I have continuity on the Y/R wire but not the Y/B. Checked for continuity to the ECU connector as well, both are good. The weird thing is if I unplug the ECU connector the furthest on the right the ground to body goes away.
Everything else in the car seems to work so I'm not sure if part of the ECU is shot, or I'm missing something going through the harness. Any help would be appreciated.
