Hey, I'm 18 yr old from Lithuania and into getting my drivers license and I absolutely love the RX-8, ofc it wouldn't be my first car (that would be a Ford focus that grandpa gave me. ) and I wanted to ask what to look out for when buying a used RX-8, and some general tips of maintaining a car like that.
I already saw a 2005 RX-8, 1300 cm³, 192 HP (141kW), 146 543 km (~91057 miles), previous owner says it's lowered with "HR" springs and has renewed the brake disks and lining. seems to have no rust but I haven't seen it IRL, he does claim the engine works good.
For 5000 Eur (~5400 USD).
I'll attach the image of the car I have more if needed.
Glad you are thinking of an RX8 as a second or third car. They’re great but, not for everyone. Lots of maintenance ( not difficult if you are mechanically savvy and access the knowledge here) and can dependable if looked after. I daily drove mine to work 5 years with only one difficult day when the clutch pedal bracket broke.
When you do the test drive, get the car warm, then turn it off and restart it. A healthy engine will restart easily. A tired engine will force you to wait until it has cooled down.
Also get the repair and maintenance history and see if he has been following best practices.
