rear gears

Is there any rear gear options other than stick and auto trans options? Like in the 3:90 range? Possibly some other mfg?

There's the 4.77 diff from the series 2's or 3.7 I think from an FD which should work. All limited slip. What are you trying to accomplish?

So not the complete diff, but people do swap FD and RX-8 gears. Mostly in the FD community, but I assume it goes the other way as well. It's just.. why would you go the other way? FD final drive is lower, so you would be giving up acceleration and cruising at lower rpm so less passing power.

Well cruising to my daughters house @ 70mph the tach was in the range of 3500rpm sixth gear. Actually could see the fuel gage dropping. best fuel milage on a rotary engine 13B is 2800. The gears that are in it are fun to drive but also have noticed rpm's go up quick but not good mph. I think it would be better to change ratios.

You should be getting 20ish mpg on level ground at that speed with a healthy RX8. If you're not getting that, make sure it's actually healthy. Ignition coils, spark plugs, etc. 2800 sounds kinda low, in 6ths you're almost lugging the engine. Keep in mind the Renesis is not like prior 13Bs.

Oh, engine is plenty healthy. The Renesis engine should be even better 13b , its the only rotary Mazda porting that has zero

overlap in the center housing. The target rpm ( 2800 ) is there @ 55mph. " I can't drive 55 " ha!

I got a 3.909(fd auto) and a 4.1(fd manual) that I plan on putting in my cars. They are not easy to find. The 3.909 I had to buy a full diff off someone and get a forum member to pick it up to ship to me. Probably like 1500$ by the end of it, hoping to resell the diff with the rx8 4.44 ratio.

The 4.1 r&p I lucked out on ebay and someone from japan was selling it for 100$ just by chance.

I plan on using the 3.909 in my rew swap and the 4.1 in the turbo ren setup. Both with 5speed rx8 transmissions.
