First to any existing users, thank you for this forum. I have never commented before (so never registered) but have been reading for years and found lots of great advice.
I am looking to sell my 2011 blue R3. It has been a great car and I have held on to it a long time after I probably should have sold it. I just am not able to drive it much as it isn't really great for hauling hay or animals around and my kids have gotten a bit larger. Posting here initially as a new user but also my local mazda dealer is booked until the end of march before I can get a compression test done. I love this car and am looking to sell to someone else who can appreciate it for what it is and ready for a rotary engine and its quirks. I will plan on listing it once I get the compression test done but if you are interested and want to be notified when it is ready let me know.
The good:
Single driver, around 60k miles, and kept up on oil changes, maintenance etc. Always used for long drives as nothing is close to my place!
Upgraded BHR midpipe and ignition coils
The bad:
I love this car but it hasn't been babied. Unfortunately I don't have a garage so it has been kept outdoors so there are scratches. I am considering getting them addressed before the sale but it may depend on what people are looking for. Similar with the interior it is starting to show age with the cracks around the airbag on the dash etc. Will include pictures when it gets listed.
CEL has come on recently, I thought it was an oxygen sensor but taking it to my local shop they are recommending replacing the cat. Estimated at around 1200. Again something that I would take care of depending on interest before a sale but if someone would prefer a specific setup then it could just be negotiated in the price. It certainly isn't going to pass CA emission right now, lol.
I got the compression test back this week, attached images for those interested.
I am curious for opinions on how much work you all would do to get your RX ready for sale. I would normally get everything detailed and looking its best, address any minor issues found and try to get the best price locally. Here though I think a lot of people really enjoy the work so might be more interested in getting a good price then fixing and moding the way they are looking to do.
The main cost would probably be in the body work and cat but what do you all think?
- Body work, clean up cosmetic dents, scratches etc.
- As mentioned above the catalytic converter likely needs to be replaced.
- Will need new tires soon.
- Front breaks and rotors need to be replaced
