Electrical Issuesss... ahh pls help me im soooo doneeeee...
I already posted on the Series 1 forum but got no resposes and found out few new things so here we are...
So to sum up after a spark plug change my car has been randomly having a mind of its own with a random OMP limp n all n random alternator underperforming and etc .
So yesterday I was driving in the rain and after the rain ended I found a nice open part of the highway and floored it and guess what the battery light and the eps light came on and I lost all power steering ..
And the issues went away when I was stationery and not revving and they come back when I rev ..
Got home let the car rest n started today n there was no issue .. read about the eps connectors getting corroded n cleaned them all and the car was fine .. gave it a few revs to 8k and I could see that jus at the top of 8k the bag light comes on and the eps comes on n the power steering goes away
Got a obd n read the battery
12v when off
13.8 when idling
18.V. !!! When revving
And I noticed that only when the battery power goes above 15 the battery light comes on n I loose eps sometimes just turning on more accessories like a n lights fixes it ..
So I probably have a bad alternator right..?
Does anyone know anything else about this
How can I fix my alternator .. is it bad to drive like this
Anyone has experienced something similar..
Any input will be appreciated a lot
Y'all R the only help I have
What i found out since
The passenger side window doesnt work and always keeps on blowing its fuse and ive noticed that the little light around the keyhole ( mine has the smart entry so the little **** we turn) stays illumited 24/7 even when the car is locked and when in the ignition position with the car on it turns off but every time i press the passenger window button that keyhole light illuminates too..
and also the random wierd omp limp ughhh.. it comes on at random startups ..
i love this car soo much but whattt is going on..
how did i get electrical issues out of nowhere after a simple spark plug change..
but then ik it wasnt smt tht shop did cause the day i tool it to the shop to repair after starting it it had wierd electrical issues all the way from home such as abt 7 blown fuses..

Sounds like the voltage regulator in the alternator is done. It's supposed to prevent system voltage going over 14.5 or so.
As for the fuses blowing and lights staying on... Has this car been in an accident? The things you list like the light, power window, etc have nothing in common, so I wonder if there's harness damage somewhere.
Your battery may also be dying after getting overcharged for what sounds like a long time. I would fix the voltage regulator/ alternator and see how it behaves after.

Hey there ma man..
Thank you sm for being the saviour as alwayss..
No as the car has been in a minor bumper scrach situation abt 6 years ago when a had jumped across the highway n hit it..
all these electrical gremlins started from the day i cranked the car day and night to get it started .. you might remember the other thread where we tried to get the car started n it ended up being a bad spark plug..
Since the moment i got it started tht day with the help of a bigger batter it has been having these electrical issues..
I went to properly check the alternator today n yes its overcharging and the electrician suggested replacing thw whole alternator..
So plannin to pick up one from another used rx8 from a spare dealer..
And btw the random limp.. it always goes away after a battery reset n comes on randomly.. if i leave the car off for abt 30 mins before starting it never comes up... but if the interval between a start is less than 10 mins it always comes up.. specially if i start the car with accesories.. ik this sounds like a underpoerforning alternator but its actually overperforming.. im soo confused..
anyways im planning to get another alternator and get it fixed within this week ill update how it goes.. the car runs n drive fine with no power loss when the limp isnt there n as long as i dont go into manual mode n take the revs to the limit.. in auto its fine even if i mash the throttle....
can this be a coding issue in the pcm..?? or the ecu..??

Thanks for the reply loki..
Yeah loki i did some more digging in the thread.. i saw in one post something about the voltage regulator being controlled by the pcm thats why i thought it might be something realted but now im sure its the alternator.
So my plan is to get the alternator fixed and adjust the omp sensor as many people who have and had my symptoms have found out it was eaither coolant leaking onto the connector or jus a bad misaliged sensor position...
The thing is when i commit n get the car on jacks the limp and omp cides r no where to be seen.. anyways gonan smhow adjust it the next day.. im confident innit cause if its real failure of the omp the codes and limp cannot be intermittent as mine..
Ive been in this forum soo much ive seen dreams of me searching this forum for stuff...

Hey there loki.
Yeah you are correct but the limp comes on the starts when its hot doesnt matter if its under load or not ...
So im gonna check if it comes on by doing the 12 subsequent start thing...
I saw inna servive bulletin tht the pcm does its self check automatically on every 12th subsequent start or smt..

Update
So for anyone wondering
the alternator issues r gone by replacing with an oem alternator … never knew they were made by Mitsubishi…
regarding the omp
went to the rx8 builder over here n found few oni sensors laying around and replaced one jus out of curiosity but to no avail…
many ppl get by adjusting or replacing their sensor ..
n now the battery reset doesnt seee to fix the issue
