Guess I still can only post in the new member forum..I've sold or scrapped all my Rx8, but I still have the front and rear suspension from the one that was being considered a EV racecar.
Now I'm looking at using this suspension in a different car, which will also be an EV, and I need to make it AWD. So braking in front wheels regen to battery.
Has anyone changed the front hubs into ones that can have a half shaft? I quick look at the rear vs front hubs looks like the rear hubs will not work in front.
Any other ideas before I spend much too long searching myself when someone might have figured it out already?

 

Hmm, I wonder if I can just drill a hole in the existing hubs, and actually weld on the splined shaft of a half shaft? Are those splines heat treated and can't be welded? I could cut splines into the hub, but don't really have the equipment for that, and paying someone to do it will cost a lot more than adapting a hub from another car. I see there is a connection for a speed sensor on it, don't need that in this car.

 

youre better off looking at hubs-suspension from a current gen platform. you cant make the rx8 front hubs awd without extensive modifications and aftermarket parts. you cant drill the rx8 front hubs or anything like that.

 

looks like the 2016 CX3 fwd hub will bolt right in
