Hello, let me introduce myself, I'm Sebas from the Balearic Islands (Spain), I love the Mazda Rx8 but I don't like its engine🤣🤣, it runs little and consumes a lot, I've had 5 Rx8s, now I only have 2, my wife already gave me a warning that the cars or me...now I am preparing to swap a 2jz engine to my first rx8 that caught fire at the front, like this I take advantage and assemble it to my liking...it will take several extras that I have at home to assemble, I hope to find information about the swap and upload the process here. Greetings!!!
Currently I have the 1st Rx8 which is the one that will be swapped and the 4th is the one that works, now I am putting the Abmax bodykit on it and a couple more things that have already been installed.
Welcome to the forum! Very sorry to hear about the fire! Glad to hear you have a good plan for the car! I wish you the best of luck with your swap!
Thanks, now I'm finishing the bodykit, I'm lining it in carbon fiber with lilac details.
I will install this bodykit, also some new JR7 9.5 and 10.5 inch wheels in 18, on the current car that works to sell it, in a couple of months I will get the swap on the burned out car.
That is some very cool and unique looking bodykit @Sebukis8. If you don't mind me asking, where and when did you learn to work with carbon fiber?
Hello again, the complete kit is made of fiberglass, it is covered with forged carbon fiber, which is relatively easy to make. You can buy already cut carbon or sheets and cut them to your liking. First, a very clean and dry base, then a layer of epoxy resin and then apply the carbon and stretch it with more resin with a brush. Let it dry and sand with fine 400 grit sandpaper. After smoothing it with a paint gun, you have to apply lacquer, dry and polish it. It takes work, but it looks good. And regarding learning how to apply carbon fiber on the internet, I saw how they do it and I got to work.

That's amazing - self-taught Definitely an inspiration my guy, keep up the good work
Hi mate, I had it half disassembled from the front, it was covered with a plastic tarp. I'm a big fan of barbecues and I lit the fire as I always do with a hair dryer. My bad luck was that sparks flew under the tarp and when I realised it was too late, it was my fault. It hurt me quite a bit because here in Spain there are very few RX8s with a sunroof
Hola, Sebas! It's great to hear from a fellow RX8 enthusiast, especially someone as passionate as you are. A 2JZ swap sounds like an incredible project—what a way to customize and breathe new life into your first RX8! It’s amazing to see how much effort and creativity you’re putting into these builds. Definitely keep us updated on the progress; I’m sure many of us here would love to follow along.
Hello! I'm glad you like the project. I wanted something different that couldn't be seen on the streets of Spain. I've stopped my projects at the moment because I have pending home renovations, but I'll keep posting progress as soon as I can!

Btw since we are talking about engine coversions i have had driven an rx8 here in Sri Lanka with an engine from a toyota/lexus altessa (LEXUS IS) with the 3S-GE and it was quite the thing to drive.. would suggest you looking into that too.. And ive seen guys do civic engines , even an RB from a gtr ..

Yes, unfortunately I made a barbecue with the Doritos, regarding the engine change, here in Spain we have very, very strict laws regarding modifications, I have to fit a more modern engine than the year the car was registered (pollution issue) WTF!!! It's a huge nonsense, what does it matter what engine I fit, one engine will pollute just as much as another, in Spain the thing about modifying is paying and paying, that's why I can't fit an older engine, I wanted a B13REW from the RX7 FD, but I can't drive it legally.
Damn ive never heard of that kinda law..
That it sucks !!!..
But then ig you still have some options left , if we are talking bout modern engines.. ig since its a series one its deffo before 2008..??
So engines after 2008...Maybe the 3 cylinder engines from the new GR Yaris n Corollas LOL ..
Or maybe a VW group engine from a Seat or smt since i supposed parts r cheaper n abundant for those cars over there in spain... theres really not many options left for u cause of the "new engine" rule... I remember seeing someone in this forum putting a VR6 in their Rx8..

To be fair, with how rare these cars are in Europe, I doubt anyone will see a difference between a Renesis and a 13B under the hood.

Yes, I know, they don't know how to distinguish between a simple swap of a Honda D15 for a B18 hahaha, here where they inspect the cars it is called ITV (technical inspection of vehicles) it is carried out every year, the problem is that if you have an accident and the car is not approved you can have many problems, from paying for all the damage done to jail.

Same thing here in Croatia. However, they'd still need to say "that is a 13B, not a renesis". If you stay N/A, the keg is pretty much indistinguishable to everyone that's not rotary-savvy.
However, you're still more than likely to pass every car inspection. And if you really want the "it's not my fault" card, just sell it to your friend for a few months, and buy it back from him. Then proceed to say you bought the car as-is

Haha, I wish it were that easy to sell it and then buy it again. Here they don't care. The thing is that if something happens, someone has to be found to blame... It's very sad that in other countries you can do anything to the car without any problem, and in Spain we are almost always fined for changing the colour of the wheel caps... The thing is to pay and then you can drive legally.
