I picked up an 05 a couple weeks ago for my wife. 85000 on the odo but PO says engine was swapped at 60000 and had photos of paperwork.

Fun little car but it seems to need some new shocks or something. It is fine when she is by herself but with me (~210bs) and our oldest son (~160lbs) it seems to bottom out a lot. Is this normal?

congrats on the 8
no definitely not normal.
is just the rear bottoming out? Can you take a quick pick of the struts on the car just so we can see if it's the original suspension or aftermarket.

If the shocks are original the top hats are probably close to dust instead of rubber. Photos will help like Jedi stated. Might be time for shocks.

I 3rd the pic request. I've recently (last week) swapped out my Springs and Shocks as, like Meat Head stated, the rubber parts were pretty crumbly.
Drivers rear has this nice clunk when driving low speed over a street gutter.
