Unfortunately, it made more financial sense to salvage the car, take the insurance money, and part the car out. Compression of the engine was only ok, so I didn't think it was worth putting any more money into. Damage was done to front bumper, oil coolers, radiator, AC condenser. Insurance offered more of a payout then I expected, and I felt I could get more than $900 they offered to buy the car back.

Interested in the passenger side fender but shipping may be terrible to California. Also, would you be able to stock oil lines coming from the engine to the oil coolers? I'm interested in that, having issues with stainless steel braided lines...

I do always worry how much insurance will pay out on an rx8. Considering the kbb values are only 2-4k for private sale ........ when buying a good used one will be 8-10k in an actual sale.

Insurance offered me more than I thought, about 35% more than the KBB private party value I looked up. Considering the mileage (145k), condition (rusty rockers), and the mediocre engine compression (mid 80s-mid 90's), it was more than I expected.
