I started to autocross and i am lookin for magnets for the numbers. I do not feel like using the tape ne more its just too annoying

Perferably i would like the LED style magnets if anyone could help that owuld be awesome

 

The cheapest way is to get magentic sheets and cut them yourself. You can get the sheets at most art/craft stores (Michaels, Pearl, A.C. Moore, etc).

 

Not sure what LED magnets are ...

Some people buy magnetic heater register covers that you can find at Home Depot or Lowes hardware stores. Create your graphic (letters, numbers, pictures), in a word processor, print it out, trace it on to the magnetic material, and use scissors to cut the magnet material to the traced shape.

For a larger size, I found a shop in town that also sells magnetic vinyl, which comes on a big roll. I just bought 2 ft x 18" for about $7. It's a sign shop if that's any help.

if i were to get that magnet strip and make my own numbers how would i paint it. I dont think that black would show up well on titanium

 

You can get the sheets in a LOT of different colors.

Looks like soloperformance.com sells them pre-cut like you want for 10" and 8" tall numbers. Prices are pretty reasonable IMO. link

Suggestion: if you ever get paint work done to your car, ask them to paint a couple magnetic sheets as well. It's much easier to position a single large sheet with mutiple numbers/letters.

Good idea Pur. I usually go to an art supply house. They frequently have magnetic sheet in white. It makes a good base for applying numbers (meatball).

They sell a self adhesive vinyl number sheet. The cost is $4-5 per. It has the GRM logo and plenty of room to put up to three 8" tall numbers.

I mounted mine to the magnetic sheet, then applied the vinyl self stick numbers. After trimming it to the edge of the placard, it works well with any color car.

 

well thats down the line.. right now we trying to avoid the whole using tape thing

 

you can also use vinyl paint. available at most kmarts and automotive stores. very durable I have found
