Impulse purchased a mystery RX-8

Hello all and thank you for welcoming me into this community. Almost two weeks ago I spotted an RX-8 for sale and long story short I bought it. 2006 RX-8. It didn't run and hadn't been fully reassembled after a very poor partial color change. All I heard was 6 speed rear wheel drive and that was enough. Since then I have been trying to ID the vehicle options trim. I do believe there are a Base, GS, and a GT models. After doing a VIN search with google, the 6 speed manual and 10000 rpm tach leads me to believe that is enough to eliminate the base model and that its most likely a GT with the 6 port version of the engine. Searching online using the VIN and door tag info haven't been definitive though. As far as I can tell both the GS and the GT could have all the options that my car has. The 32V paint code, the two small chrome accents on the front fender vents, and the plastic front fender splash guard things (still in my trunk as of now), and the light colored leather seats are a combination I have only found on one other car; another member here on RX8Club Snrub listing for his 2006 Mazda RX-8 Shinka Edition with Copper Red Mica paint. I am hoping someone could tell me how to positively identify what version of RX-8 I have. Mine also has a power sunroof. I haven't assumed that I lucked out and snagged a Shinka for next to nothing but it would be cool lol Thank you for any clarification you can offer

Great catch, except the engine problems obviously. Why doesn't it run? What happens when you try? Sometimes people give up on these cars too early.

Are you in Canada? Headlight washers give it away.

door tag has 32V for original paint. previous owners messed with exterior paint but didnt do a good job.

canadian car

I did get it running, seriously rich though, looking at boogered injector(s). I will get it figured out
.
Thanks for the VIN link TeamRX8, the Shinka VIN list does not include mine so it is not a Shinka, sadly lol

It is 100% a Shinka. That colour was unique to Shinkas as were the seats and chromy looking wheels that you have in the rear. The front wheel looks like a regular 8.

Rx8help.com for all your new owner and figuring out needs. It probably just needs coils/plugs/wires. But I would get a compression test to know where you stand.

Oh, looks like RIWWP needs to patch his website. Well, it's a handy website compiled from an old member with key info for new and current owners. I would strongly recommend you find the New And Potential Owners thread here and internalize all of it. These cars aren't difficult if you do a few things right, but very difficult if you don't.
