Best way to clean the coolant seal surface S1 iron?
Hi all,
Apologies if this is a duplicate post, I could not find any direct posts on the subject, feel free to link any posts I might have missed.
Anyways, I am looking to clean my S1 irons for a rebuild, not the surface itself but more the edges to clear previous carbon build-up and leftover coolant seal debris.
I recently cleaned my rotors to almost brand new using a drill, PB blaster, and a nylon abrasive wheel, and have cleaned the exterior and most of the interior of my irons using the same process, but I am worried to get anywhere near the chrome of the irons even with a nylon wheel. I obviously do not want to leave any carbon build up especially where the coolant seals meet but don't want even a chance of damaging the surface.
Anyone have tips from when they rebuilt their 8? Or is the process I am already using totally fine.
The area circled in red is where I am speaking of, obviously I wouldn't only clean this spot all of the surface surrounding the chrome would be cleaned, it's just for reference.
