Er.. replacements seem pretty available from Mazdatrix or online Mazda parts suppliers in Canada. Sure it's $360 new, but you could always ebay or junkyard.
I don't think they're meant to be disassembled or repaired, nor would I really trust one that has been?
Straight forward job you know what you are doing.
Your is an old version since had a bleeding valve, the new one I believe the same as the Mazda 6 ? and does have a bleeding valve, line exits are not side...
If you have never done/are not a qualified mechanic, it is not only better but also cheaper to obtain a rebuilt unit/ brank new.
On this platform, people are scared of doing things and thinking outside of the box :D
Sorry to revive this thread. I'm looking for a replacement for the brake master cylinder for my 2004 RX8 AT w/ DSC (FE03-43-40ZA) I ordered from an OEM site and they canceled my order a day later because Mazda discontinued the part. Are all OEM sites going to have the same issue? They all appear to be looking within the same network. Nothing on ebay. What are my other options, besides scrapping the whole car?

A quick google reveals that Mazdatrix and Atkins have them in stock apparently. Try there?

Thanks. It looks like the ones in stock are FE03-43-40ZC, not FE03-43-40ZA. Do you know what the difference is and whether it could be made to work? I tried to get it repaired and the dealer said the first part they ordered didn't fit because it was actually for MT, not AT.
Based on the OEM stores own descriptions -C is for auto trans all years, -A is for manuals before 06, -B is for manuals after 06.
I don't know how a dealer would have mixed up AT and MT parts, they have a computer to look these things up by VIN number, so it's probably best not to visit that dealer again.
But if yours is AT, -C is all you need?
My 2004 AT had the master with fittings at the bottom. It had DSC.
My 2006 MT had the master with fittings at the side. It didn't have DSC.
My 2005 MT has the master with fittings at the bottom. It has DSC.
I think you will just need to get the model with the fittings on the same side, don't believe in this case that automatic/manual will matter. You may just need to reuse your reservoir tank
