Midpipe help?

Hey, I'm trying to find a catless midpipe and I'm having a hard time finding what I'm looking for. Are there any vendors someone can point me to where I can buy a 3 inch non resonated midpipe? I bought one a very long time ago when I had my first rx8 but I don't remember where I bought it from.

I have one. No idea who made it, as it came with the car when we purchased it. If you’re interested let me know and I’ll get some photos.

Hey I am also looking into this and have read through a lot of threads and I want a straight pipe so I never have to mess with my cat again so I guess for reliability. Does this bolt right up with the rest of the stock catback? What was your experience with it?

@Dimension23 The best bolt on options are:

Racingbeat RenV1: Link (This will be painfully loud and drone, especially if you plan on getting a muffler, this may give more sound to a stock muffler or the racingbeat catback and be ok levels)
Racingbeat RenV2: Link (This is dual resonated with no cat, which will get rid of most drone with various catback mufflers if you choose to get a new one. I have 2 of these and it paired well with the turboXS catback. I honestly did not like it when paired with the dual racingbeat exhaust, as it was too quiet.

BHR either with or without the cat: Link (This option is probably the in between loudness of the two racingbeat options.)

All will give a check engine code and fail Obd inspections, except for the bhr with a cat. Some vendors like mazdatrix may also have stock of these options, so I suggest calling.

These look pretty good. I am thinking of getting the RB. I just want to get a mid pipe with no cat so I can premix. My engine is the oem engine with 117k mi so I am just doing this for reliability, sound isn’t a problem as I live in Phili but my car is registered in FL. There are no inspections there. I upgraded my radiator to the csf aluminum radiator and plan on getting the BHR coil packs. I am new to this car so what do you recommend in this situation I will buy whatever is necessary for the maintenance and reliability of the car, but am just looking for the cheapest option that will eliminate the clogged cat problem with this car (I don’t want to have to change my cat again in a few thousand miles) which is why I wanted a straight midpipe but I want to bolt it into the rest of the stock exhaust. I will eventually buy the mazda edit and get rid of the light that’s not a problem once again no inspections. Thank you for the info btw Minc.

Yeah any of what I listed will work for you then, just figure out what is available.

Doing bhr LS coils and sparkplugs would be a good next. At 120k miles though you are in the realm of needing a rebuild if it had not been done already. Just a reminder that the first sign of low compression is trouble hot starting. I would always urge to rebuild earlier if possible to avoid excessive damage.

When I had high miles and low compression I found that premixing only caused the plugs to foul faster and faster. Not that you should not premix, but keep plugs in mind as something to check if you find yourself flooding a lot.

I honestly don’t have any trouble hot starting one time I actually started the car and accidentally shut it off almost immediately after and I was certain I flooded it and I didn’t it actually started right up no problem. I drove it from FL to PA and have been taking trips 2hrs+ multiple days a week and not a single problem yet. For my trip to PA since it was long I was premixing but then I saw that it can accelerate clogging the cat so I put a halt to that until I decat it. Thanks for the advice though. Previous owner was the brother of the original owner who also was a mechanic for mazda and to his knowledge it is the original engine, never rebuilt, but they did take care of the coils and all that stuff in the past two years they changed all the fluids. I will probably go with the RB v1 and proceed with the BHR upgrade.
