have you ever rebuilt a renny or any rotary for that matter? are you reusing housings, rotors, irons?

 

i replaced the engine o rings and apex seals on my 04 4port when I bought it at 65k it’s at 93k and I can tell you I should not have cheapest out the first time around , I’ve had quite a bit of oil in the intake along with foamy oil my compression is still good my renny is covered in oil

 

oil in the intake doesnt always mean you need a rebuild and foamy oil on the dipstick is totally normal

 

what’s causing the foamy oil cause I assumed the oring at the water jacket failed

ok now here’s another question for you is there a difference between a at radiator and a mt radiator

 

the at rad has a small rad section on the bottom for the trans cooler lines the mt does not have it

 

we’ll damn all the radiators I see are mt or they say they’re compatible but the internets a tricky place

 

you will not be successful in doing any kind of rebuild for $1,500, get that idea out of your mind now even if you are doing the work yourself and the $1,500 is all towards parts.

You need the transmission cooler found in the automatic OEM radiator. going with basically any aftermarket will require you to get a transmission oil cooler installed aftermarket and the fabrication for something like that wouldnt be worthwhile. Replace your radiator with a new OEM if yours is old and replace your radiator fans with a new OEM assembly or some FaL 420 fans. Go ahead and also replace the thermostat with a new OEM thermostat while you are at it.

Finally, read everything you can about any issues you have or concerns you have from here on the forum. There is decades of information available for you, and a lot of other sources are full of tons of misinformation. There still is some here, but not as much and if you have questions you can ask and the longtime owners still here will be able to chime in (but we will not bottle feed you, you do need to do your homework too)

i know theres at least one after market aluminum rad for at 8s because i installed one for shelldude years ago on his 4 port turbo a/t car before he did his m/t swap. it had the trans cooler but i had to extend the trans cooler line cause the connections on the aftermarket rad were more centered vs. being closer to the passenger side of the car iirc

 

see I’m looking to do a manual swap but unfortunately my 8 is my daily so I kinda need a solution asap for now

 

4ports cost more to rebuild/replace because theres far fewer of them and nobody wants one. it would be a lot cheaper to buy a 6spd car with good compression or a nice roller and drop in a reman

 

um I actually have a 05 in mind says it needs a starter but comes with another six port
