How many RX-8s still running in Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro?

Just curious how many are around these days? I have a 2004 Velocity Red Mica M/T Touring with spoiler and trim. Still going strong at almost 83k miles and body in great shape with the typical accumulation of minor paint chips over time. I also just got a few dents pulled out to return panels back to factory smooth state. I don’t see as many around as when I bought mine used privately with 25k miles 15 years ago in October of 2007.

Most recent photo when the car was constipated with a clogged cat. Car is running well again now after addressing…

I bought my 2004 red mica RX8 MT6spd in Oct 2003. Rebuild needed at 140,000 miles (2014). Rebuilt Renesis 56k mi. later (now at 196,754 mi.) runs like a rocket. Using 10w40 year round here in Florence,SC. Left and right front stereo woofer relays are toast and paint is spotty (expected after 21 yrs.). Very difficult to pull plug on T-REX ( pet name). Will probably opt for that 2022 Honda accord and keep T-Tex until wheels fall off.

I have a 2004 as well same color i m debating to restore the same color or to go Soul Red. Now looking at your paint i might stay with the stock color.

I’d keep the velocity red mica. Of course I’m biased…

TRex. Still running in Florence,SC

I have a 2004 MazdaRX8 6spd red velocity mica. 200,124 miles running 2nd engine (rebuilt). Replaced original engine in 2014 60,000 miles ago. Now I’m experiencing slow hot starts. When warm runs like a rocket in all gears. Paint job is fading in certain parts in other parts the paint job still looks pristine. I’m gonna drive it till it falls apart completely to get my money’s worth.

Thats awesome! If body is still in good shape can always get new paint job. Low compression on the hot starts, weak battery, or failing starter?

My car only saw winters for the first 3-4 years of its life. Been garaged during winters ever since. Good detailing and waxing can really keep paint in good shape! Periodic dent removal is key too. Very little rust on car and the little rust there is isn’t anything that will become a problem.

Congrats! I’ve driven my RX-8 through there a few times on the way to my parents home. You definitely have a unique car for the area.
