New to the concept of premix

So I want to start using premix in my rx8. I understand the concept of ratios and how much to use per gallon and whatnot. But the one question I have which I can't find the answer to is, do I still need to use regular oil along with premix? It sounds like a dumb question but I'm serious

Like maintaining the oil in your oil pan? yes

The oil in your oil pan is mainly used for lubricating the bearings and cooling the rotors. From the factory the oil metering pump takes a small amount of oil and injects it into the combustion chamber for lubrication of the seals. No matter how much you premix your oil metering pump will still use up oil for injection.

Premix is something that a lot of people think is a yes or no answer. Personally I think it is not needed in all scenarios, while certainly needed in others.

That's a series 1 issue...not possible to pre-mix with the series 2.
