AL 04 renesis blew, was it new exhaust?

Little backstory
Bought the car guy said had a swap recently, drove it a couple days and it was doing great as far as I could tell. Had horrible exhaust leaks, on the front collector there was a 2 inch pipe welded onto the front collector and filled in with tweld that slid inside a peice of 2.25 and the other end of that was slid over the stock size to the resonator. What I did was remove that front collector cut everything off welded a 2.5 to 2.25 reducer to it, added a flex pipe after that, cut out resonator and attached it to the y pipe. Started the car up let the water temp get to normal gave it a few revs to 4 k. Blew appex seals on front rotor...

Was there something that exhaust setup did? I wouldn't think so, other than the change in pressure from what the car got used to..

What do you think?

btw exhaust sounded so much better...for about 5 min anyway

Y-pipe? There is no Y-pipe on this car, in stock form.
I'd be more looking at the recent rebuild. What all was replaced? Who did the work?

No idea on the engine, they said it was recent but after getting it about halfway out, I don't think it was to recent (engine swap or a build). What I was worried about buying one of these with unknowns on the engine, but its cool I guess just bought a block with all new hard seals for 1200 as long as the midplate and front housing and front plate are ok I think I can get it back going soon..
It has white silicon on the engine plates.. Is that typically OEM?

I can't login on my phone to get a pic, Ill hook the shop vac up to make sure the muffler system doesn't have a bunch of crap in them (pretty sure they dont as It was sounding awesome. Guy said they replaced the engine but Im thinking it was the previous owner to him, I saw his work..good god.. but I guess you have to start somewhere. If it was done by him/his friend there wouldn't be any matching bolts in things..

Mainly just wondering if there was any special consideration to backpressure with the renesis. Technically what I did should have reduced backpressure, and from what Ive gathered with a rotary, renesis in particular, the less the better?

Nothing that would make the engine explode. It's really not that sensitive to exhaust changes (for better or for worse).

Sounds like a botched rebuild. Time for a fresh shart with a known good engine

I would just make sure everything around the engine works, like oil injection, ignition, etc, so your bew engine doesn't move in with the previous engine's killer.
