Ticking noise??

Tbh im not sure how long its been doing this, only noticed it today because my hood was open.
Not sure What the hell is making this noise, nothing seems to be rubbing.
The car idles fine and revs fine, the tick either goes away when i rev or the car is too loud and i cant hear it.
No smoke from exhaust and now loss of power.
Spark plugs, coils and wires were all replaces about 23k miles ago. (ebay coil packs and oem wires/plugs)
PLEASE HELP it sounds like it could have chipped a seal but i feel like i would have smoke or rough idle or something.

After Digging around online im convinced it is a Bad coil or bad spark plug. Going to order a BHR set and some plugs and wires ill post here if that fixes my issue.

Didnt listen, but probably your SSV ticking. Look it up, theres a fix for it too. Buy a new one that is the revised version of the part.

FIX FOUND! It is the SSV. My SSV works as it should except the arm on the actuator is loose and hits something, thats what is causing the clicking noise.
From what i see this doesn't seem to effect performance just annoying hearing that tick.

proof its the ssv :https://streamable.com/io4fpr

This is definitely a common issue and im glad you found it quickly! It won't effect performance but it's something that should be replaced when you have the time.

this forum has a search function, learning how to use it is as basic as it gets … it’s a well known and established issue on early year Renesis engines that’s been discussed quite a bit on here in the past.

Did you go find that youtube video yet?

Hey I also have a quick question I have a 2006 rx8 and the pulley at the bottom right side of my engine starts and stops and when it does it makes a clanking noise? Is it normal?

I would assume that is your ac pulley and mine also occasionally causes a small tick sound when the ac starts working.
