Racing beat headers

Have the engine out. Would love to overnight some racing beat headers before it goes back in within the next few weeks. Thanks

Haha you're hilarious sir. Always fun reading your old posts. I mean I did hear you can bang out at least 4whp and a nicer sound no? I got the motor out now so thought it couldn't hurt. No? Cause I for sure won't do it later when it goes back in.

Team does have a good thread on header theory, a quick sum up is that since the renesis has no overlap, there is no point to separate header tubes. Which could also be seen by early attempts at making long tube and short tube headers and seeing no performance jumps. I'm fairly certain the stock log is really the best you can get OTS, unless you want to fabricate a larger log collector.

In terms of the rest of the racing beat exhaust, while it is heavier and necks down to 2.5in flanges, its sound and no drone is well worth it for street applications. Any actual power gains are probably offset by the weight in the end.

I did talk with the guys at racingbeat and asked them if they would be willing to manufacture their exhaust with 3in flanges instead. They said they could, however due to demand and shortages they do not have the time to change around their jig.

Gotcha.. well according to this message from them to me not too long ago, it seems they aren't the ones making it

Well that is just the flange that changes the exhaust ports to the header tube size, I would assume they weld up the tubes themselves in a jig.

well again, you can get that out of the OEM manifold by cutting it off just past the last engine port pipe and going to 3” from there all the way out the back. Let me tell you if for some reason the RB header needs to come off it’s a big pain with the engine in the car. Not impossible, but aggravating. Sounds like you may recognize that already, but posting it for other people who don’t.

Rb headers

Yea when I installed the rb headers I had to lift and lower the engine slightly with a jack to be able to shimmy it in there, ID assume it would be the same to get it out

you will be better served modifying the OE manifold instead with a full 3” exhaust system.

It's been a while since I've been under my 8.
What's involved with that?

cutting the OE exhaust manifold off just past the last exhaust port and enlarging it to 3” OD tube all the way out the back. I don’t think there’s any catback exhaust with 3” tube size though, but just dropping it back to the likely 2.5” tube size using a reducer right where it splits off to each muffler is not going to result in much restriction.

It is pretty much a custom job though going from the manifold to there. The usual 3” tube catpipe such as the BHR etc. can be used though by just cutting the reduced end sizes off of it. So then it’s custom from the rear manifold cut to the front catpipe cut and then also from the rear cat pipe cut to the muffler split flange. That would also necessitate a 3” tube size cat converter for emissions legality where required.

the header is just throwing cash into a hole in the ground with some gasoline and setting it on fire; being both undersized and all around useless.
