Intec / Valenti RX-8 tail lights

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to recommend the Intec / Valenti LED tails as a nice aesthetic upgrade for our cars. These seem to be released pretty recently, so I haven't seen many examples of cars with them installed yet aside from demo / show cars out in Japan. I got them with the LED third brake light from Rotary Love (run by the Rev9 guys) for about 1070 all in (shipping and customs). I was getting tired of how poorly the OEM tailights held up (saw damage in lens and cracks on multiple used sets) and of their dated appearance, so I swapped to these and have been super pleased! The diffuse LED lighting and sequential turn signals refresh the rear end by a ton.

These are fully plug and play and work with both the S1 and S2 RX-8s (with an included adapter kit). Install was pretty trouble free, I had some mounting bolts strip from the tailight housing but JB plastic structural adhesive helped fix that right up. You have the option to do sequential turn signals or solid ones with a circuit plug wire which is a nice touch. If you don't like the smoked look, they are also offered in red for a more "OEM" vibe. I went with smoked as the red ones looked less interesting when turned off and I thought the black look would go nicely with my gray paint. They (along with an Amazon cat cushion) are one of the two mods that my girlfriend noticed and approved of, so there's that haha.

Here are some photos of them unlit and lit up and a YouTube video demonstrating some of the functionality.

To each his own but to me, those taillights are a downgrade. LED lights like that immediately make me think of riced out cars that try to emulate what they've seen in video games or manga culture and fits into a similar category of teenager's who straight pipe their vehicles amongst other poor mods imo. I think your custom number and plate frame reenforce my perspective. Also, tinted head or taillights are illegal.

Thanks for shitting on my taste haha... if you want to check out my mod list will gladly send that to you and see if its still "riced out" as you think.

If these are illegal as you claim, why is Valenti somehow able to get them certified for sale in Japan? Hmm I wonder...

Carshop glow makes another neat LED one that is more in line with the S1 taillight styling, but those are more expensive and have individual bulbs / "dots" which don't feel as "modern" to me. So win win for me in that sense!

I like them too. Different but for me they go nicely with the vehicle. I'm not sure if I like smoked vs. red.

Pricey!!!

I think the smoked look ties the car back more to the RX-7, although in that case having the center of the trunk be black / carbon could look pretty cool. Hoping to pick up a carbon trunk from a member on here that I can try that look with!

i think they euro look is amazing myself and no smoked taillights are not illegal anywhere, un-visable brake lights are and those look very visable IMO

Quoted per DMV. Not exactly up for discussion; either you follow posted laws or you don't.

"Blacked-out tail lights are illegal in all 50 states. If you can't see anything through your tail lights, and you can't see your turn signal when it's turned on, your tinted tail lights are illegal. This is for safety purposes. ... Having tail lights that are clearly visible is crucial to avoiding accidents.Dec 31, 2019"

and i dont see anywhere saying tinted taillights that still have visible lights are illegal... all this makes sense and is not the same as tinting . "Blacking out" means nothing can be seen even the lights

If you can't see the lights here in said video below Federighi, then you might need to get your eyes checked

If this your interpretation is true, then Porsche wouldn't be able to get away with half the tailights they sell on the GT models as options haha

Agreed! I think the diffuse bar look is much more in with today's times than the OEM tailight options (S1 and S2). Bit of a departure from the light signatures we are used to from these cars for sure. There's also a red option available for you more traditional folks, but I liked the darker, non-coloured look on my car personally. Blends in with the body paint more and gives off more FD vibes.

Wow, they are already discontinued by INTEC in Japan.
It's a shame. I quite like the parallel line look!

They're actually still available! They just co brand them with Valenti. You can order a set through rotary love like I did.

Yea man I really think your pretentious look on cars and trying to turn a hobby into a thing as a way to read people down to there core based on something as small as headlights and a license plate cover…I only made an account to let you know how much that shitty opinion makes any sane person pissed off someone like you owns the same car as us hahaha
