Yes real MS part. I imported one for my FD in the early 2000's. Plastic cover made to appear faux carbon. I tried sourcing the part#, they do pop up every so often on the 7club.

This is a good start.

JP3 has been scanning everything he can find or buy into his 'media' but the links are down right now for some reason. Not sure why or for how long.

Yeah I didn’t think it was. Funny fact.. or theory.. I suspect S2 stock exhausts are actually the Mazdaspeed exhaust listed in the catalog. The one muffler design..

No, the S1 exhaust doesn’t position properly on an S2; combination of the of exhaust pipe shape/routing, hanger lengths, and also the tip pipe shape/routing.

no kidding.. I’m talking about the muffler portion.. we all know S1 exhausts fit different on S2’s. But when you look at that picture of the single muffler design.. it’s the same as a stock S2. But I guess that is the same design as a S1 as I look at eBay junk... the S2’s do sound different too.. that’s what also made me believe Mazda was using old stock for S2 cars. You can still buy the MS strut braces for both front and rear from Mazda.. makes you wonder how much they made of certain parts that never sold.

Honestly, it really makes no sense why would you think/say/bring it up in this guys FS thread. Which I probably should have just ignored your previous response first, rather than this one.

you want to post it elsewhere, I’ll be glad to respond to your comment there instead

that’s also not officially a USA Mazdaspeed part

it may be from MS JP, but more often than not most of those MS parts offered on Feebay are non-Mazda aftermarket products

the full USA Mazdaspeed pdf catalog is attached for reference; NC MX5, RX8, M6, M3, & MS Turbo MX5 models

Umm, I think someone is missing the obvious point.. correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the majority of RX8's come with autodimming mirror? In which case, even if you did get the OEM Mazdaspeed cover, you'll probably have to drill a small square hole into it to clear the sensor. Which is why I think they never bothered offering it for the 8.
Food for thought..

Well, if you go by the part # located in that brochure, you won't get any hits. Not exactly sure why that part number doesn't show up, but for whatever reason, it doesn't.
However, if you go by the FD part # (which I'm sure is the same for all these bolt on covers for these stock mirrors), you get a few hits online where you can pick them up.

Part # is: QYY1-v1-450-20 (taken from my RX7 catalogue for all Mazdaspeed parts)

Good luck!

Seems like there's been a definitive answer for those who care. Just remember it's a piece of plastic that's faux carbon. I had one before, you're not missing much.

Glad I brought back from the dead a part lol. Back in 07-08' i always laughed about it being ''fake'' carbon but i am trying to source all the stock mazdaspeed parts with the faux carbon hense the reason I am looking for it now.
Please guys keep in mind I am located in Europe and all the existing buy it now ads are x4 the price for me plus import taxes.
That's why I am looking from private sellers if by any chance someone wants to part ways with it.
Thanks Spyros.
