I've had a slow leak from the driver side of the engine for a while now, and just gotten around to tear off the UIM to take a look. I suspected my oil filter relocation plate was to blame, but I noticed the gasket didn't have any obvious runs in it and the mating surfaces were clean. Next item was the Oil pressure switch which was absolutely coated and anything within 6 inches of it. Finally got around to removing it this evening and I am confused because looking at the nice shiny threads with sealant still in them makes me wonder if this is my culprit.

So at this point I have two options:
1) it is fluid from the clutch line (seems unlikely as the fluid spray has gotten behind the bracket on the clutch line. Also seems like too much of a leak to only be when i depress the clutch. I also haven't lost that much fluid out of the reservoir.
2) can the oil switch blow internally and leak from the gap in the plastic cap? This seems most likely based on the conditions in the engine bay, but not sure if it is possible with the actual sensor.

Anyone have info on this?

 

Nobody has had a oil sensor leak....?

 

I had one, but it was on a rebuilt engine and the sensor wasn’t fully threaded in. I didn’t think to check it. So it was an easy fix with some teflon sealer. Hard to say for your situation. You have to just clean the area good with degreaser and then watch closely to determine where the leak is coming from.

 

I remember having that sensor leaking at one time.
Couldn't tell you the exact fault with it, but I do remember it causing quite a mess underneath.
The dealer fixed it, minimal cost for parts and labour.
