The series 1 mats have more of the 90's JDM holdover, with a patterned pile, and an inverted print with outline. This is in contrast to the series 2 which aligned with Mazda's efforts to move more mainstream and near-luxury, going to a standard all black design. Both are of very good quality, especially for the era.
