Just installed JIC FLA-2 coilovers on my 8 yesterday. Much to my dissapointment the front shocks can only be adjusted to lower the ride hieght aprox. 1/2 ". I contacted JIC, and after many questions, they acknowledged that the shocks they sent me would not work and they had a new bottom bracket that would allow the adjustment. having paid extra shipping to be able to install them in time to attend the rotary revolution this weekend.
I was very dissapointed in the fact that JIC would not overnight the parts to me unless I paid the shipping. Seems like I already paid once. Now they want me to pay for a mistake they made!
BUYER BEWARE!! Customer service say's alot about a company.

My JIC's will go so low the front will almost touch the ground. In fact the HIGHEST setting on the JIC is about .5 lower than stock -- are you sure you didn't confuse the CS guy on the phone and he thinks you are trying to raise the ride height not lower it? Are you sure you installed and are adjusting them properly?

 

yes I am sure they are installed correctly. the problem is that the shock is to long. with the bottom bracket screwed in all the way, wich makes the shock as short as possible,I then screwed the bottom spring adjuster up so the spring is snug between the upper and lower perches, set the car down and the front dropped aprox 1/2" this is as low as it will go. You can lower the front lower if you leave the lower spring perch backed down so the spring is not snug. I lowered it down so their was 1 1/2" of space between the perch and spring then set the car down being careful to make sure the spring seated correctly and I got the 2" drop I was looking for. Doing this shortens the travel of the shock
and could possibly damage it. If you did this to your car it is not correct, and you should contact JIC and have them ship you the correct part. If the bottom bracket is steel and bolted on it is the wrong part. JIC is aware of this.

 

My JIC are the same way. With the ride height completely bottomed out and no spring pre-load to speak of the front of the car sits about 1/2" lower than stock. The rear shocks are another story and it looks like I could drop the back until the muffler would drag on the ground.

 

Yes the back shocks are fine no problems. I would contact JIC and have them ship you the correct mounting brackets. although they Know their is a problem, and have the parts to correct it, they continue to ship the bad parts. I guess in hope that they can get rid of them and nobody will notice. good luck!

 

Can you post pictures? I have a hard time imagining what steel bottom bracket you're referring to.

JIC sent me the wrong rear springs, but I had to raise the front shocks an inch to get maybe 3/4" drop.

So when you say ride height is completely bottomed out, you loosened the single aluminum ring on the left and screwed the threaded body as far as it will go into the bottom housing? Keeping that ring loose at all times of course.

Yes that is how I did It . The metal bracket you asked about is the u shaped bracket on the left that screws into the adjuster housing, and hooks the shock to the lower a arm. JIC says that the new part is a one peice unit that allows the shock to be adjusted shorter.Thanks speed racer for the pics. pure nrg just wondering if your shocks have the same ends as in the pic or are they different. I talked with Huff from Vivid and he said he talked with JIC and apparently one batch from Japan was assembled incorrectly -- his set and mine are correct -- Speedracer also purchased from him and his are wrong (replaced).

 

just out of curiosity is anyone using the EDFC with these? I think it's compatible...

 

Huff was great, he made a few calls and now the replacement parts are in transit. I should receive them on Friday. I plan on taking some comparison photos so that everyone can see what is going on.

 

Okay, now I understand. I had to look at my shock before I realized the difference. This is a picture of my front shock. As you can see it's a solid tube and U-joint. Bummer that you got the wrong part.
