Curious what leads those covers to cracking? Didn't happen on my series 1 but I do have a very fine crack horizontally in my series 2.

Poor material selection for the application. There is a metal framework under the cover that I suspect stresses the surface material with heat-cycling. Over time the elasticity is reduced to embrittlement and the stressed areas split.
