Okay, you can't look at them. This post is for the approx. 5500 people that have joined up after 11/1/2003 (like me) and haven't seen these pics before.

 

Yeah those pics are "so old" as in from 1999.

Rolland, "so old" isn't the whole story. These are pictures of an earlier version of the 8 we now have, which was dumped because Mazda's stylists didn't like the way it looked. They fixed it with the design you and I own. This is all explained, with one of the pictures you posted, in a hardback history of the development of the RX8 that Mazda published, and sent to some of us earlier-order types.
Nothing wrong with studying historical pics, but they don't point to future 8 design.

mikeb, the amount of posts that you have in the amount of time that you have been here cracked me up, so I took a jab at it.

Now to the point of posting the original pictures. I realized that the pictures may be old. I even said that I didn't know if they had been posted here before. I just ran across them and thought I would share. Most people don't live here and if someone comes across something they haven't seen, what is the harm in them creating a post?

With as much time as MikeB spends on his computer in front of rx8club, I would imagine he has a very ergonomic setup. maybe even one of those fun gel pads to rest his wrists on.

But, no reason to jump all over people. Just mention that they are pictures of the Mazda RX-Evolv, and people should search the forum for 'evolv' for more info, then move on. You can't expect everyone here to have read all 1,000,000- posts on the board like some of the rest of us have. Jumping down their throats will only scare away people that might have future insight to contribute.

Rolland - no need to take offense. Many of the people here (myself included) have been following every step of the RX-8 since the RX-01 back in 1995 and tend to forget that not everybody is a rotorhead. If this picture is news to you then you're probably new to the RX-8 and rotaries. Regardless, welcome. Someone correct me if I'm off, but I believe the model progression is RX-01 (1995), E-Volve (1998?), RX-8 Version 1 (the picture you posted, 1999), RX-8 Version 2 (2001), RX-8 Production (2003). This link has a timeline and some nice concepts.

Okay, for the guys that have been here for a while, I will stop being an *** (but only for a moment), put on my honesty hat and attempt to explain myself.

For mikeb. When you posted, myself and two others had posted. When you made the post of "relax, everyone", I did not take that in the context that you were only talking about the two others. If you would have posted "leave the guy alone" or something along those lines, then I probably would have received it differently. Thats not to say that I wouldn't have taken a jab at your post count, because to me that is a frickin bunch of posts, but thats me being an *** again.

Anyhow, I come to these forums as a form of entertainment. Idiots like RX8FanMan that provide no contribution to my thread other than to tell me how old my pics are, along with the masked genius of argh, put me in a position to attempt to both entertain myself and anyone else unlucky enough to have read this far.

Maybe I should just go back to the Lounge and look at pictures of everyone's cats.
