Going back to Laguna in July. I have the following wheel/tire config. Let me know which one will run better?

1. R3 Wheels 19' running Pirelli P Zero GT 225/40 Square.

2. 2007 Rx8 Stock wheels running Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position, 225/45.

3. Enkei RPF1 17 inch wheel. Stagger setup. Hankook Ventus V12 EVO. 225/45 front, 255/45 rear.


Are they dramatically different? Does it matter? Looking to upgrade to RE71 fro the ENkei after I'm done with the Ventus V12. These are wheels from my S2K.

Please let me know.

Definitely not the 19's. The 17's are a good option, but these cars don't need/don't do well with stagger. You'll be plowing everywhere.

So I guess the stock wheels + Pole positions?

 

Got it. Sounds like either I run the stocks or get new tires for the Enkei.

 

R3 19" wheels are as heavy as the 18" stock S1/S2 wheels. They are forged.

Honestly, the only things preventing me from considering them is cost, rarity and how crap the roads are around here.

 

If you're somewhat new and not competing for lap time, is go with the Hankook rs4. Better longevity than the re71r. Saves you money for gas and brakes and maintenance

If you aren't competing and/or aren't very competitive, the Hankook R-S4 is a great choice.
255/40-17 for 17x8 or 17x9 work great.

 

I would run the stock set with the 'stones. From what I've seen they seem to hold up decently to track abuse, and should let you get a good feel for the car's balance before stepping up to something grippier. And if you're on the stock suspension you may not have as much fun with a 200tw as there will be tons of roll. AND once you step up to a 200tw you'll need dedicated track pads if you want to be able to push the car. I run a 235/45 rs4 on 17x9 with 9/7k springs and its fantastic. The 235 is way cheaper then the bigger sizes and offers plenty of grip on a 17x9. Though if you won't be competing and the car is your daily, I'd recommend a 235-255 firestone indy 500 or conti extreme contact sport. These new 300tw tires are as grippy as the old 200tw and are fantastic for dual purpose.
