OMG - I cannot believe that in the modern age of manufacturing that the wrong head gaskets were used unless the TechOps department and R&D and Engineering all got the BOM wrong. I work in Product Development and the BOM reviews are very drawn out and detailed to ensure there are NO (Z E R O) mistakes.

I like the scenario Bozi put forward where both head gaskets (being nearly identical) were made by the same company and they sent Ford Mustang gaskets in Focus RS boxes. The differences really are very small so an assembly attendant would probably not even notice.

it does suck though that if you were trying to keep your Focus RS low mileage then your warranty would run out even though you didnt use the car much.

I agree! Just had the head gasket replaced on my '17 RS. I really wasn't crazy about engine work being done on my new car. Time will tell if it holds up past the factory warranty.
