Cleaning disassembled rotors and housings (brake cleaner?)

After taking apart my engine, I need to clean my rotors, housings, and irons. I could use carb cleaner, but that will leave a residue that I'm afraid will eat away at the soft seals later. So I'm thinking of using brake cleaner. Is there any reason that would be bad for the metal parts?

Brake Cleaner won't work and will get expensive fast. Get a gallon of Chem-Dip parts cleaner and some brass wire brushes. A sand blaster with the right media works too.

Harbor Frieght also sells what we call, "yellow stuff" it's a yellow gallon of degreaser. They also have "purple stuff" but I think the yellow stuff is better.
