Hi Bay Area RX8 owners,

I need to get a brake job done, front and rear rotors and pads. Is there any reputable and reasonable shop that you would recommend?

I got a quote from couple dealers Fremont Mazda and Oaktree Mazda, they quoted $1300 and $1100 respectively. Both of which are extremely expensive. I hope a local shop can do it for a much cheaper price. Please help and advise.

Go try Motorsports Technique in Hayward or Auto RnD in Fremont. Those two companies are reputable as well and i trust their work more than i would trust the dealership. Though you can do it yourself, i've changed my pads and rotors several times for track days or just for normal wear and tear.

 

Typical labor for Rotors and Brake at an auto shop should be no more than $80-$100 each so $400 for labor. The part cost for rotors are about $55-60 each for OEM and $70 each for pads.

The total cost should be around $700-800 for an reasonable place. If a place is charging more than $1000, there is something wrong there.
