IL Oil smell at 9000rpm?

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed a brief oily smell when I'm really romping on the car, i.e. like taking it to redline. As soon as I let off and bring the revs down to cruising speeds though, the smell goes away. Probably nothing but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Oil in your intake (fairly common issue)? If not, then likely an oil leak (duh).

The obvious question would be if there's oil leaking somewhere. I used to have a leak at the OMP at high rpm only, but other scenarios are also possible. Open the hood and have a look around

Check by the oil filter, people tend to spill oil on the top of the rear iron and down the side of the engine when changing their oil. This would need to be washed off or you'd smell it burning off when it gets hot.

Checked the intake, no oil. I didn't see any oil leaks by the filter or anywhere. I wanted to check the OMP too but I couldn't find it. Anyone know where it is? I'm not sure how an oil leak could make a smell only at high rpm and only for a few seconds. Are we sure this doesn't happen to anyone else?
