New Rx8 , Won't go in gear when cold???

Hello everyone, I just bought my second rx8. Sold the first one and then regretted it so 6 months later here I am with another one. I am having some transmission issues. When I start the car in the morning it will NOT go into first gear. It feels like it is hitting a wall when I try to put it in. So I start the car in gear, and then try to shift to second which may or may not go in, same with all the other gears. But as soon as the it warms up it shift normally. Any ideas as to what this could be, I already changed the tranny fluid, but what else would be effected by heat? Any help is much appreciated. T

Here is the new baby

sounds like a clutch related problem

Why would they clutch need to "warm up" though?

Disclaimer: Not a mechanic, just using some logic and looking around at other problems here. This could very well be stupid as hell.

BUT

Have you considered it might be the transmission fluid? It makes sense to me if it's gunked up (oh yeah, technical term there) it could possibly cause problems shifting into gear, and it warming up could allow it to flow more freely and alleviate the issue.

DIY to replace transmission/differential fluid:

then you need a second set of eyes to look at movement of the pressure plate under the car while someone pushes the clutch pedal. its for sure either no travel or very little travel. meaning low fluid level, or bad master/slave cylinder.

How does one look at the pressure plate from under the car?

Maybe if your friend is Stewart Little, then you could remove the starter and have him climb thru the hole.

Would a bad salve or master start working when they warm up? I will double check the clutch fluid.

You should take it to someone who knows how an engine and transmission works.
