Question for new buyer

Hi guys I'm new to rx8s and am looking forward to purchasing one. I'm looking at either the 250 hp type s or the 6 speed 235hp model . Is it worth getting the type s ? How can I be sure it is actually a type s and what are the differences between the models ? Cheers Dave .

Never heard of a Type S. In the US, there were only two options; 212 and 232. Auto's had 212 and Manual's had 232.

The HP numbers bounced around for a while, until Mazda settled on 232.

Welcome to the club man! The Type S was sold in Japan. I would say it's the Japanese equivalent to the Gran Touring trim in America. The other 6 speed 235bhp model IS also a Type S. Could be a base model with less options, but it has the Type S engine and transmission nevertheless. I don't know what's up with the power rating differences though. They should both be the same, but some say the JDM models have more power there is a thread in here that talks about all the different trims. Search for it. I'll try to find if I can.
