RX8 questions

I just bought a rx8 and it slow starts and burns my spark plugs quite fast. it has 58k miles . It also doesn't have a catalyst and i don't know if that is causing this issues. Ive heard that if you use Iridum spark plugs it can fix this problem.

Please help i dont know if i need to get the motor re built.

First, welcome...

Second, the only plugs are the ones made for it. I think they are all irridum. But, if you just got it, how do you know it uses up plugs?

Best bet is to read here. There is a lot of good data. Check out the stickies. They have great data. Sharing the year, options and other data would help. Typically, the first thing I suggest is changing coils an plugs unless you are sure they have been done recently. Oil too.

The Congrats Thread below will give you some suggestions for some work as well.

All "chips" for the RX-8 are a scam. Remove it. Read here:

@ lionz, any luck?

@ harry, what he said. there is a lot going on. Most chips just lie to the computer about what is happening to make it run leaner. That is not a good thing. Pull it and see how it does. I suggest an ECU reset (20 brake stomp procedure) to flush out any chip inspired data the ECU.
