I just here recently noticed a taping sound like a exhaust leak coming from the passenger side of the car. First thought was my secondary air injection block off plate was leaking. Jacked the car pulled it and sure enough it was I fix it figured ok that's fixed but nope still there. The sound is coming from the header for sure not the intake or the ssv no change in performance just irritating as hell when I pass over a bridge and I hear it. It seems to come from the center pipe but not sure the header is a OBX header I'm thinking the gasket could be gone. Any suggestions would be nice thanks.

a bit more of Information about ur car would be useful but ... knocking/tapping sounds are often bearing failures (rear main, front main bearings) but could also be ur SSV knocking ... try to get ur hand (or someone else's hand) onto the SSV and see if this stops the sound.


Maybe u could also try to make a video of the sound and post it here ...

And it's not just at a idle it's a lot louder when under a load and as I stated earlier pass over a bridge and the sound bounces back and sounds like crap. If that vid has to much trans noise I'll make another and have the wife hold the clutch.

Ended up being a leak at the test pipe conection to the header the taping was the leak echoing through the pipes and under the car.
