QC 07 Rx8 single tick won't start

Good day,
I have changed the battery on my Rx-8 since battery was dead.

Now currently everything is plugged and tightened.

But sadly when ever I come to start the car, I hear a simply tick when I trying t5o engage the motor... But nothing happens apart from that, motor dosnt even try to start ...

Any ideas?

Pull the starter and have it tested....just did this, the one tick is a relay under the hood.

Remove the fuse box cover, flip it over. There is a diagram on the back for what fuses and relays are what.

Fuses can be checked visually, sometimes relays can too. Otherwise...

Sounds like you triggered the immobilizer.

Edit: Is the key symbol flashing in a set pattern?

I don't know enough about the immobilizer to know for sure if this is what is causing the problem, or what remedy is needed. If it IS an immobilizer option, then a key-reprogramming at a dealer might be the last resort. You will need to find out what immobilizer code is flashing and then look that up to see what the fault is.

If you, and the car, is at work, expect to have to tow the car. Either now or later.

And check the battery cables to ensure that you have positive to positive, negative to negative... crossing them is usually a very expensive mistake.

if it clicks once and nothing is happening, its NOT your immobilizer, it's your starter, cuz if it clicks your key/system is working.

get a small metal bar and lightly tap your starter while someone sits in the car try to start it, 90% of the time the car will start, if it does, order a new starter asap.

if it still just *Click* but doesn't start, your starter is probably dead dead dead , I mean DEAD, take it out and check it at any chain-auto store like AAP and AZ, but chances are you still have to buy a new starter, if you have MT, get the 2009+ starter. if Auto, get the 2007+ model.

if it doesn't click at all, it's ur immobilizer,

if it's just key that's bad, you need a new key, then IDS (found at dealer and some people like me) system, which can reprogram the in/out code for u. for a fee, of course. Dealership around an hour of labor. + whatever fees they wanna charge u.

there is a chance the RKE module go bad (seems fairly common actually), you can get a used module from the same YM rx8, and again program it with IDS.

Sounds like you need to get a starter to me; however, try RIWWP's theories first.

QC

Thanks everyone:

Last night, not wanting to leave the car at work, I tired to start the car by compression. It worked <3

Once i got home I lifted the car to try and see the problem with my own eyes, and indeed the starter is finished.

I have ordered a new one and will receive it tomorrow.

I'll be installing it myself with the help of Vyndictive's tutorial
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-...ummies-189410/

I will be posting pictures for who ever this might happen to also.

Thanks everyone for the support. ^^
