so im new to rx8's and i have a 2006 mazda rx8 shinka. to me it feels like theres something wrong with the ignition. i have to hold the key forward longer than i should. it sounds like when you hold the key forward too long in a normal car but the normal car will still start... this sometimes doesnt get the engine to fully turn on. any ideas on what it might be?loose spark plug possibly?

 

Check your plugs. How long has it been since new plugs wires and coils? Mileage? Which starter?

 

im guessing they havent been changed at all. i just bought the car. it had 1 owner then spent the rest of its life in an auction house until i got it. its mileage is 77500.

 

You'll want to change those, they're wear items. I think a video would be best to illustrate the problem. It's normal if it takes a couple of cranks to starts, it's not normal if you're trying to start it for 5-10 seconds or more.
