New 8 Owner

YAHOO!

Just purchased my 8 today and It's a blast. Feeling the power in the stick is... intoxicating.

Anyway I have learned the major things that I should look out for and prevent: flooding by quick starting then shutting off, checking oil because it's natural for the car to burn it in the engine, brake lights may contain moisture because of imporper sealing, redline it once a day to prevent carbon buildup.

Is there anything I missed? I want to take care of my car as much as possible and I know that rotaries are a different beast, and the renesis has it's issues. Car has 56K on it, I hoping for many more!

not quite right about the flooding bit. See the new owner's thread for the rest of the "good to know" list.

Welcome to you also, though your post didn't really invite a reply.

Thanks for the advice all, I dunno why I glossed over that. And yea like you said awesome knowledgebase in that thread, will definitely help me.

One thing I'll definitely want to go over is using the car in the winter. I'll definitely get new winter tires, possibly studed, it can get hairy up here.

EDIT: I may have some issues here, hopefully not. I got the car checked out and what before I purchased it, but just not I ran a Carfax report just to double check on everything and something came up that made me wonder. There was an accident back in 2005, no problems today that I could find. But then something was noted in 2012:

"08/14/2012
Damage Report

Vehicle at automotive recycler facility
Vehicle parts offered for sale
CARFAX recommends checking for damage during your pre-purchase inspection.
"

And at the top of the Carfax report it has the big red sign that says: "Vehicle at automotive recycler facility."

My question is, I know with salvaged titles the dealers are obligated to inform the buyer of that, but were they obligated to tell me of the recycler facility when I purchased this vehicle? I just want to make sure i'm not getting messed with.
