Premix with cat
I have been looking around and cannot seem to find a solid answer, does premixing with the sohn effect a cat? Clogging or just not good for it?
Thanks

Thats what I am wondering, there is full synthetic, or part synthetic blends, and I am not sure what will harm the cat or not... I thought synthetics didn't burn well in the first place?

Well I have a turbo xs with high flow cat and resonator. But I also have a bhr laying around. I like the throatier tone of the turbo but I have a sohn kit on the way so I am trying to figure out if I need to get rid of this pipe or not.
Williard when you say the cat is going to go, do you mean that it will eventually fail due to our cars running hot or from premixing?

Both, if you premix, it's going to speed the process a bit, if you dont premix it is still going to fry. It's not a guess, it's a fact. I would say put the BHR on there with whatever cat back you got and enjoy.
Fickert my suggestion is still the same, remove the CAT. Should you clog it and not catch it in time it will cost you your engine. Remove it, put the BHR on and enjoy the car. That is completely IMO and whatever you choose to do is up to you.

I appreciate your input I really do. I just do not want to get rid of the pipe just yet it seems. But if putting the bhr back means the life of my engine I will surely look into it more, I just cannot find any legit proof cars that have cats while running a sohn adapter.
stay under 1/2 oz./gal premix with the factory MOP map, use Amsoil Sabre Pro premix oil for both
oil is never good for your cat, but cats are cheaper and easier to deal with than an engine
the sohn adaptor is irrelevant, all you are doing is changing where the MOP oil is coming from, the real issue is cat life vs premix

Ive been running 8oz of smokeless premix to every tank for as long as I have had the car and I have never had a problem. The motor seems to like it, and by like it I mean it doesnt make any performance difference. Just a preventitive added to the oil injection that is already there.
I own a rx8 and have been premixing for around 60,000 plus miles and is totally stock with no apparent effects on performance of the cat. The only thing i noticed is the exceleration did improve. May be more in my head but it seems to be a smoother engine because of premixing.
For people who don't think the correct premix matters or want to play the magic elixir game be forewarned that there are more than a few pictures of clogged RX8 exhaust ports floating around. Your engine won't be zero overlap, it will be negative overlap ...
