i have an 04 rx8, dont know what model it is...all i know its fully loaded except for nav, has the black exterior with black/brown leather with hids, moonroof, rear spoiler, 6 spd, 45k miles, and new engine rebuilt by rotary specialist. my question is if i try and sell how much could i get for it? or why i should keep it? any info would be awesome fellas.

 

It's at least a Touring. Leather would suggest a GT, however I'm not aware of the black/brown 2-tone combo being available for 2004, so the prior owner might have swapped the interior. I could be wrong about that though.

Assuming everything is in good condition, you could get anywhere from $7,000 to $10,000 for it, MAYBE more depending on who did the rebuild.

The decision to sell or keep is going to be a personal one for you. Many people regret selling their 8s, other's can't get rid of them fast enough. If you are ambivalent toward it or generally want out, then it won't be any more valuable than it is right now. Adding mileage to the chassis and the engine is just going to be chipping away at what you can get for it.

 

im thinking of selling it, i just want to go back to school, i was thinking of anywhere from 6500-7500...and the engine builder i dont want to say any names until someone actually comes to look at if they are serious, but its a well known guy from the east coast. like i said im debating if i should sell it or keep it and hold school off for another year, but im already 31...time is against me.

 

If you're serious about school, sell the 8 now and go to school. The longer you wait the harder school will be. No matter how nice the 8 is, it's still just a car. School is the rest of your life.

Your selling your car to go to school? I assume you have anther car? Because if not that's kind of like selling the tv to get a xbox. Instead of selling your car look for grant or some thing explore all options because once it's gone it's gone and a new one will never be the same.

 

yea niteshade i hear you, i do have another car in mind and its like im in the same boat now with the motor being rebuilt im walking to work, hitching rides....it all depends man, like if i keep the rx8 i can start school in the spring of 15....if i sell it now i can start school fall of 14, go on vacation to a nice island and still have money left over., but the thing is the car is practically new...new engine, low miles, clean as f@#$.....i have a new car, why get rid of it? im at a point in life where i dont know....we'll see when i finnally drive the damn thing, but again thanks for the advice man....appreciate it.

 

Selling your car is like dumping your girlfriend. If you love your car and will regret it, don't do it. If it was just a fling, you should sell it because school is a high priority.
