Sorta new RX8 owner

I bought my first rotary car in May of 2013. Put 8k miles on it last summer and just got it out for year. Figured I'd post a quick intro.

After quite a bit of research and looking at more than a few different RX8s I settled on my 05 6spd in Velocity Red Micra. It had 120k miles on it when I bought it with a new engine being put in it in the fall of 2011 at about 106k. Its stock except for a BHR midpipe and Borla cat back.

So happy to finally have a rotary car, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

Thanks!

Before I bought my 8 I spent a lot of time on these forums, and it was worth it.

The coils are fairly new, and I've checked or done most of recommended things. One of the things that made me go with this car is when the engine was replaced at 106 the original owner (who I bought from) had over $2k worth of stuff done also. New intake manifold, omp lines and oil injectors, a bunch of stuff. That said, I'm a car guy, I have a few licensed mechanic friends, and I've done engine swaps in their garages. This car wont be going to a dealership any time soon.

I'm not gonna go crazy with mods or anything, I'll stick with the exhaust that's on it and do some reliability mods but I've always been one who appreciates a nice stock looking car than a modded body kit and lowered car. I wanted a nice ride that is fun to drive on the weekends.

I'm guessing you are talking about the paint?

When I first started looking I was looking for the dark grey/gun metal color but being used you take what you can get. I have had a couple red cars in the past and was looking to not get another, but when I saw this color I loved it. Its awesome how much the color can change depending on the lighting.

Looks outstanding - looks alot like mine, except I haven't installed the body kit yet (but bought one today). Very sharp.

Thanks. I wish it had less stone chips on the front end, but for 126k its in fantastic shape. The original owner did a lot of highway driving with it. Its even still got the original clutch in it and it doesn't show any signs of going bad yet.

Plus no rust anywhere, which is impressive for a Michigan car of any age.

Yes - these cars seem to be made pretty well. I bought my 07 a month ago and it was not garage kept....and has no rust. Now it doesn't even get driven in the rain.

Before I bought mine I ran into a few that had rust forming in the rear wheel wells. Its no surprise with how much salt we use in the winter but it really depends on how its taken care of and what its exposed to.

True - especially this past winter. If you wash them off every once in a while, it does help.
