New 8 Owner, Not new to rotary..

What's going on guys, and gals? So I just bought me a 2005 8 today, Previous owner works for BMW as a service advisor and had a detailed list of maintenance on the car. The car does have 112000 miles, motor professionally rebuilt by a rotary specialist and not by Mazda in the last 10000 miles, BMW recently in the last 100 miles changed coolant and thermostat and oil change, with in last year and about 2000 miles had new clutch tires and brakes installed, plugs wires and coil replaced 3500 miles ago. It does have a cat back exhaust, unknown make, and a K&N Typhoon intake, everything else stock.

You won't have any trouble buying one here when someone parts out their car, but if you want something "OEM plus," the AEM intake is identical to the intake branded as a "Mazdaspeed" and the Racing Beat REVi intake is comparable to OEM.

Sounds like you've found a nice car. Congrats and welcome.

The word here from many members with experience is that the AEM/Mazdspeed and Racing Beat intakes are the only CAI that add some slight hp, the rest rob your car of hp with combination of poor design and poor air collection location. The stock intake is excellent ,but if you are like me and you want a slight bump, then the AEM/Mazdaspeed and Racing Beat are the only ones that help, not hurt your performance. There will be the usual arguments here, but I think our own RIWWP has stated such.
