Shocks compatible with Subaru Legacy???
Shocks compatible with Subaru Legacy???
I'm wondering if I can swap the stock shocks from an 07 onto an 07 Subaru Legacy GT? Does anyone have any idea how I would go about finding out if this is a possibility? I know our stock shocks are made my Tokico, but I can find a model type or anything to go off of. Thanks
Awesome, I really appreciate the quick reply!! There's no way I thought anyone would know the answer to that, but I'm grateful

RX-8 Shocks:

Legacy GT shocks:

See if you can spot the differences that will make them completely incompatible. Make sure you start your list with things like "length", "mounting points", "top hats". Bonus points for being able to find more than 8 differences. You win if you make the correct conclusion.

Lol, well I successfully made a complete *** of myself. Thanks RIWWP for the very informative pics. I'm new to dealing with suspensions changes and was naively hoping they would fit.
Well, you take take your licks with a good spirit, which is pleasant to see
In general, it's a pretty safe bet that the larger a component is, or the more critical it is to vehicle operation, the less likely it is to fit any other vehicle. Even stuff that is fundamentally the same could have 1 bolt shifted a millimeter and it goes from fitting to not fitting, or a flange extend another quarter inch, or a pipe bend half a degree more.
It is generally really remarkable when anything major is actually a direct swap between cars, remarkable enough that the manufacturer has to literally decide to make sure that a component from car A will be directly used in car B. Mazda essentially did that with the NC Miata and the RX-8 when it comes to suspension pieces, subframes, etc... When you cross manufacturers, it gets even less likely.

I was being sarcastic, just look at the damn shocks, of course they are not interchangeable.
